A Step-by-Step Process: How a Multi-Page Website Is Created in Four to Ten Weeks
Process transparency builds trust. In this article, we walk through our internal workflow in detail: discovery, structure, design, implementation, content population, and testing. We show where clients step into approvals and how we keep timelines realistic and controlled.
Introduction: Website Development Should Not Be a Black Box
Many agencies take a brief, disappear for two months, and then show the client a result they have never seen before. That creates anxiety: is this even what I asked for? We work differently. Our process is broken into transparent stages with intermediate outcomes you can review and approve. Here is our roadmap.
Stage 1. Brief and Discovery, 3-5 Days
We complete a detailed brief covering business goals, target audience, competitors, and preferences. We also interview key stakeholders. The output is an agreed project vision.
Stage 2. Prototyping and Structure, 5-7 Days
We build the skeleton of the website: the page map and clickable wireframes for the key screens. This shows navigation logic and block placement without visual design. At this stage, we align user journeys rather than colours.
Stage 3. Design Concept, 5-7 Days
Based on the approved structure, we design two or three branded screens, typically the homepage and a service page. We choose the mood, palette, and typography. Only after the concept is approved do we design the full set of pages.
Stage 4. Frontend and Development, 4-6 Weeks
Frontend work includes responsive layout for all devices and animations. Backend work includes CMS integration and admin panel setup. In parallel, we connect analytics and goal tracking. Every week we demonstrate an intermediate build on a test domain.
Stage 5. Content Population and Testing, 1-2 Weeks
We upload text, images, and video. Then we run functional tests on forms, basket flows, and filters, and check for 404 errors and broken links.
Stage 6. Launch and Handover, 1-2 Days
We move the project to the main domain, configure redirects from the old site if needed, run an admin training session, and hand over the documentation.
Conclusion: No Surprises, Just a Predictable Result
A phased approach ensures that you receive exactly what was agreed, within the timeline that was agreed.
